So I was supposed to write this blog yesterday …
But I didn’t.
Why?
Because I don’t have to.
And that’s what I’m thankful for this week.
And not only is this the perfect way to close out this thankful November, it’s also the perfect way to kick off our December antics (starting next Wednesday, same time, same place).
Because in all of the things I’ve done and accomplished over the last year, I DIDN’T HAVE TO do any of it.
I did these things because I WANTED to.
I have so many things that I HAVE to do, it felt good to do things that I actually WANT to do … and have those things bear fruit.
You see, I HAVE to work a 9 to 5 …
I HAVE to maintain a budget so I’m not sitting hungry and in the dark …
I HAVE to clean my house … I mean … sometimes … well, maybe just enough to not have it be labeled as an official pig pen LOL …
I HAVE to put up with other people’s bullshit sometimes …
Shit, I HAVE to deal with my own bullshit all of the time.
There are so many things I HAVE to do, that sometimes it feels like I’m drowning in them. But what I have found over the last about 335 days, is that the things I WANT to do are been my life rafts.
I WANT to write this blog every week …
I WANT to write books full of stories and put them out for the world to enjoy …
I WANT to spend my nights painting my heart out!
I sat around thinking about what I was thankful for for days; going back and forth on this blessing in my life and that. And I settled on acknowledging the freedom I have found in my creative pursuits. Taking this road has opened so many doors for me, introduced me to so many people, and even put a little change in my pocket.
It’s been a heck of a ride, ladies and gentlemen, and for that, I am most thankful.
