Along this journey, there have been moments when I knew it was time for me to make a move, but I had no idea what that move should be.
All I knew was that “now” (whenever that happened to be) wasn’t the right time. So I stifled myself and my potential, telling myself that I’d make the move when things got better or when I was making more money or …
“It’ll be better when I finish school.”
OR
“I’m going to start when I find another job.”
But guess what?
I’d reach each one of those milestones and something else would come up
… until it dawned on me:
There’s no reason to wait for me to do anything …
BECAUSE I HAVE EVERYTHING I NEED!
But let me back track for a second.
I think this is hard for us to understand this concept because it’s easy to get sucked in to fulfilling our immediate needs. We have to provide for ourselves, our children; some of us have aging parents; heck, even the dog needs us for food and water.
So we end up feeling trapped by the need to provide; the need to produce.
We work and work harder; pushing ourselves to the point where we even tell ourselves we don’t need sleep.
But we get tired …
And we start saying “tomorrow”
… And “tomorrow” turns into next week
… and you get the rest.
But I think this procrastination; this lack of motivation; the excuses for why we can’t do the things we want are just lies we’re telling ourselves because we’re afraid.
We’re afraid of our potential, afraid of not being successful, falling on our faces, looking stupid in front of other people.
So we sit around and just think about our dreams and plan for them in this intangible future.
Do you know how many times someone has told me they want to “start a business”?
Do you know how many times those same people actually did it?
While some people just lack ambition, I think a great deal more are just caught up in the cyclical thought process of “I’ll do it when …”
BUT I’M GOING TO NEED YOU TO STOP DOING THAT ___ BECAUSE WE HAVE EVERYTHING WE NEED!
We just have to stop thinking about it so much and DO; stop plotting out our plans of personal world domination and conquer.
Because when your mind is free of those thoughts clogging up your pipeline and that overthinking standing in the way of action, you’ll find the answer to how you’re going to get to where you want to be has been sitting in your face the entire time.
I TOLD YOU THAT YOU HAVE EVERYTHING YOU NEED, DAMN IT!
There have been times in my life where I’ve dreaded doing certain tasks or having to work at certain places.
But as time progresses and my career takes on different directions, I find that the things I didn’t want to do taught me lessons that I need on my journey.
BECAUSE I HAVE EVERYTHING I NEED.
Every stumble, every failure, every win, every loss … is giving you something you need; something to help you take you the next step.
And the more I adopt this method of thinking, the more opportunities seem to come. And no, they’re not falling right in my lap. But they’re falling somewhere in my neighborhood.
And because I have everything I need,
I know what to do to lace up my shoes and take that walk to get there.
Until next time, folks,
Boss up
But Relax
And you will see
That you too have everything you need.
Love and Light,
Erin
