Who I am – VS – Who I Want to Be

Have you ever consciously reinvented yourself? Not in a gradual way like we do as we age and mature though. What I’m talking about is literally sitting yourself down and saying, “Girl! Yes, you girl over there in the mirror. It’s time for a change.” I have. And I’m about to do it again. Why? … Continue reading Who I am – VS – Who I Want to Be

I’m a Fat Chick

I’m fat.  Maybe not fat af.  But I definitely have to buy new jeans every few months because my thighs rubbing together thins the fabric.  And I definitely make sure my bra sits far enough on my back to keep my back fat contained ...  And I definitely have to push my boobs down to … Continue reading I’m a Fat Chick

I Can’t Stand Y’all

I love people. I really do. I try to spread my sunshine and rainbows and all of that good stuff. But there are some people in this world that are so allergic to positivity and productivity that it makes you want to throat punch them with your gauntlet of good vibes. For the sake … Continue reading I Can’t Stand Y’all

My Struggle, My Identity, My Life is NOT FOR SALE!

This week’s lesson is less about what I learned about me this week … And more about what I learned about the world. You know, like a proverbial light bulb moment, only this light bulb was turned out a while ago. In fact, I wrote a whole blog about this light bulb moment last year, called … Continue reading My Struggle, My Identity, My Life is NOT FOR SALE!

Got this blog up and running.  And just passed the first part of a 3 part exam, which was one of the hardest things I’ve done in a long … Continue reading Bringing in the New Year Unhappy?!

Thankful AF! Redemption Song

I’ve been a horrible friend. I’ve betrayed people who trusted me. I’ve broken hearts unapologetically. I’ve hurt people who showed me nothing but kindness. Yes. Me. I did those things.

THANKFUL AF! A Tale of These Big Ass Hands

Brianna, 36 Sexuality: “As straight as they come.” Children: "Nope … unless you count the cats." The LadyWrites82 Presents: The People Series: Episode 5: The Case of the Invisible Black Man

When I speak to black men my age (and older), I get this general consensus that they feel invisible; like no one believes them about the things with which they struggle. Of course this wasn’t explicitly articulated to me in these words, But as I went through this week’s conversation, I started thinking about other … Continue reading The LadyWrites82 Presents: The People Series: Episode 5: The Case of the Invisible Black Man
